چکیده

SYNOPSIS Thin spray-on liners (TSLs) have been used as sealants and rock support in tunnels for over 25 years. Laboratory tests indicated satisfactory properties that can provide adequate strength, adhesion, toughness, elasticity part of systems mining excavations. These characteristics are, however, not always demonstrated practice, when mine environmental conditions do correspond with laboratory conditions. The shortcomings TSLs experienced the industry raised concerns, resulting scepticism from some operators regarding their utilization. research described this paper aims to investigate TSL performance similar those mines. Brazilian indirect tensile (BIT) specimens were prepared precast shotcrete coated TSLs. then exposed different up 112 days before BIT testing under various conditions: room temperature humidity; saturated temperature; combined high (50°C). Additional uncoated comparison purposes. results showed a significant influence on strength enhancement by Water-based are most likely be suitable humidity environments, although decreases at higher temperatures. Numerical modelling TSL-coated samples confirms potential limitations designing based only carried out Keywords: thin liner, test, performance, conditions, humidity, temperature.

Shear-bond strength testing of thin spray-on liners

TSL materials for ground support were initially intended to be used as an alternative to mesh or shotcrete. The first trials on TSL technology were initiated in Canada in the late 1980s (Archibald et al., 1992). Early research led to the development of a polyurethane based product. In the 1990s, numerous advantages in terms of speed of application and minimizing transportation of materials were...

Laboratory Investigation of Support Mechanism for Thin Spray-on Liners

ABSTRACT: Rock support is the basis of any underground mine and many open cut operations. Ground support methods have evolved over the years with the current trend to use bolts, mesh and shotcrete. Thin spray-on liners may be the next step replacing mesh and shotcrete, however being a relatively new product is not well understood and no standard testing procedures exist to determine the strengt...

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Thin Discs, Thick Discs and Transition Zones

Accretion onto a compact object must occur through a disc when the material has some initial angular momentum. Thin discs and the thicker low radiative efficiency accretion flows (LRAFs) are solutions to this problem that have been widely studied and applied. This is an introduction to these accretion flows within the context of X-ray binaries and cataclysmic variables. Accretion describes the ...
